How the hell is that possible unless you're purposely doing it? Plus overheating isn't a hardware failure.

It's a design fault. Their has been E74 or E68 forget which one it is, with the New 360 S. Seems to still be plagued with all the issues the old 360's had.

Its only been 4 days though, so I am surprised. The owner/owners have to be doing something wrong.

But sony does give you HDMI cables now. They have been for awhile.
Same controller as the old, with the color changed in a few key spots.
Design also plays a part.

No, no they don't, my ps3 slim didn't come with anything but composite cables.

And regarding your design argument, the design is changed by a wide margin and to even argue it's the E74 error, you would have to understand what that error represents.

I have no doubt that especially with the first run of consoles, we'll see a share of dead 360 slims, but with the modifications we know of alone, the current 360 is as reliable as the ps3 or Wii IMO

My PS3 Slim did & bought it in 2010. Maybe the 2009 models don't.
