Bill Gates speaks at Live 8 UK
Bill Gates made a surprise appearance at Live 8 to show his support for the campaign to end poverty and hunger.
A short extract from his speech:
Quote:

Some day in the future, all people will be able to lead a healthy life, no matter where they were born. And when we do this, it will be the best thing mankind has ever done.

no i don't have that viewpoint. i just feel like maybe we should do something about the hungry and poor in our own country. their are families that make way below the proverty level and i don't see the celebs putting on a concert for them. when people put on a concert for people like that, i'll take more notice.

I see.. its where people live that is more important..I don't share the same view point because I know things are being done in America to combat this problem...all because you dont see it on the news doesn't mean nothing is being done about it. Bill Gates has gave money for poverty in the America as well but it mostly goes un-notice.

But thats not the case.. the guy standing next to her has a lot more opportunities than a guy in a country like Africa.
There are programs in America for the homeless and poverty.

I see you dont know Africa..there are remote regions of Africa were these programs in the dont reach... not to mention genocide. But as long as other countries including America bleeds Africa's rain forest and other natural resources thats good 'eh?
As for Iraq.. I don't agree with that war but the US government have to strategies what they will do once the war is over...if that will ever happen...
Would jesus turn away someone who ask for help because he/she was from another country?
God help me if I was born in a 3rd world country.
I look at everyone as my neighbor I dont care if they're next door or next country..If everyone would see the big picture I feel we would be able to end poverty because it a world wide problem..
Live 8 is for world poverty not just in Africa but all countries..Africa sticks out because its the worse but its not the only one. I wish you two would actually read the link instead of jumping to conclusions..

no offense, but you don't know what i know about genocide or povertly in other counrties. yea i learned some things about these topics in school, but you know what? i read alot of different things besides a game manual. i know my history of world events and i know how Africa ended up the way it is today. Do you? i read the news papers and i watch the news to keep abreast of current events. Plus if i don't understand something, i do research on that subject to gain a better understanding of it. So trust me, i know exactly what is going on in Africa. I also have family in Africa that keeps me updated on things that happen there. So before you say I shouldn't jump to conclusions, maybe you shouldn't either.
yes i'm proud of the fact that i had a roof over my head but what about the people that don't. Again where is there help? I don't think your getting my point. Came we take care of home before we help out someone else? I'm not saying "fuck the Africans". i'm saying "help the people here then help the Africans". and if you think that is wrong of me to think that well i don't care.
