ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A suspect running from deputies got caught after another man fought him off with a samurai sword. The suspect allegedly broke into three homes on Turnbull Drive in Orange County in order to hide from deputies.
David Tennant, 33, made some bad choices. For one, deputies said, he took a stolen car to see his probation officer and then, when deputies tried to catch him, he ran into a neighborhood on Turnbull Drive and started breaking into homes.
"He should've never came in my house," said homeowner Jazzo McKelton.
McKelton was home with his wife, Crystal, holding his baby, when he said Tennant broke through his back door.
Jazzo McKelton grabbed his samurai sword, chasing the suspect out of the house.
"We are not going to duck in hide. We are not going to be victimized as people," Jazzo said.
McKelton put his baby down and grabbed his samurai sword, chasing Tennant out of the house.
"If a thug comes in your home, let him know, hey, I can be just as thug as you," Jazzo said.
Tennant then ran into two other homes before deputies were able to catch him.
"Somebody needs to do something. Beat the hell out of him or something. Break in nobody's house. You don't do stuff like that," Crystal said.
Tennant was charged with one count of grand theft auto and three counts of burglary.
