Microsoft Purchases Capcom

Word is beginning to trickle down to fitbabits HQ from several independent sources that Microsoft has all but completed the purchase of Capcom. I'm not going to spell out the ramifications if this one is true, but I will mention two words and a number - Resident Evil 5

More as it becomes available...

Note that this is firmly in the rumor category and that's where it will stay until either Microsoft or Capcom confirm or deny it.

I guess it's more plausible than MS buying Nintendo. But that's not saying much.

- resident evil 5
- devil may cry 4
- lost planet's sequel(s)
- dead rising 2, 3
- street fighter 4
- probably some megaman games on xbla
- what am I missing?

I'm fine with RE5, and Dead Rising, anything else doesn't really interest me.

Be one worst things to happen. Be no DMC4 on PS3 no more Wii games. RE 5 will be a 360 title. They would screw all game series up.

I think Microsoft couldn't pay Capcom enough to stay 360 exclusive.. (even if Microsoft is riiiich) maybe for a title or two.. but I think they'd lose money in the long run.

I don't believe this rumor, but I would love to see Okami on 360. I also think Breath of Fire, Gargoyles Quest, and Ghouls n Ghosts would be cool franchises to bring to next-gen.

Was Gargoyles Quest by Capcom? I loved that game! It was one of my favorite games on the Gameboy. And for a system that could only display 4 shades of gray, the graphics were amazing.

Okami is suppose to be heading to the 360 in 2007.

No it's not. That rumor was debunked as quickly as it appeared.

Speaking of Okami, didn't Capcom close down the studio that made Okami and Viewtiful Joe? Or the key people quit the company or something?

clover studio. I think they did. doesn't mean capcom they can't make another okami game.

I know, I just think that if they wanted to continue the franchise, they would not have closed the studio. Unless the main reason for closing it was because key people had already left on their own.
